Hey Stephy,
It was shot at HYPE in Motherwell. One of the best clubs in the country, amazing lighting rig and sound system too. Really adds to the effect in images (very Clubland styled look to the place).

I think you captured the the "clubland" look very well with the lighting which really makes the shot. The use of colour is exciting, has lots of impact and is very eyecatching.
The pose is dramatic and works well but model looks a bit bored or fed up which kind of kills the shot for me. Her bored look does not tie in with the exiting set you created. I reckon she needed more direction. Some of the coloured areas like the models right side and the bottles behind the bar on frame right look over saturated, like one of the colour channels has gone over The colour on the bottles is close to that on the models left side so she dosn't pop out from the background as much as on the left. I reckon the background toned down on frame right would help a lot shifting attention from the BG to the model.

Hi Rik, I thought Id seen the back of your head before.....
You seem to be getting a great deal out of your speedlites, great.
This is one of these images that I cant decide, I dont dislike it but at the same time it doesnt float my boat, if it meets the clients brief then its a done deal.
I dont have an issue with the colours, the overheads are coloured and that has an effect on the black trousers the table top. Eyes and finger nails are white. Would a custom white balance have helped, not sure.
A wee suggestion regarding your second pic, my understanding is that the main light should be 45 degrees based on the position of the models nose, camera position doesnt move, that looks okay on the pic but it should also point downwards at a 45 degree angle. Both of our lights seem to be pointing up?
More to the point, are you taking a trip down to murrayfield this year?

Thanks for the comments folks
The left side of the bar was not fully illuminated as noted but I think that was due to the club itself opening in 10 minutes time and the lighting jock being late and giving us about 10 minutes total shoot time with 4 dancers individual shots and grouped. Not fun.
The WB was set to flash with a +1 on the amber. Since its all Nikon speedlights its a setting that delivers every time
You get a lot of light from shoot through brollies so you have more freedom on the degree of positioning which is a benefit and saves time compared to moving soft boxes around all the time too.
Murryfield was a big disappointment for me last year, though the DVDs I bought were ok - but not David Hobby/Strobish quality.
Think Ill give it a miss this time around as Im not really a wedding tog and thats what it seems to be mainly aimed at
