Deejay Re-edit

I find it rather rude that people are re-editing it for you though :S
or maybe Im just being touchy but if I spent 3 hours working on an image I would be rather pissed off if tom, dick and harry came along and thrown something at me saying it took them X amount of time. Maybe Im too precious with my photography.
Hope your having fun with the new learning of editing, I know you have invested time/money into it and once you have mastered it im sure it will be like second nature to you.
Quite like your last edit Paul, not over keen on the line caused by the rendered light, I find it distracting, but that just me, I don't think that I could really be described as a one that does great portraits.

It is a fairly accepted practice on some photo sites, but think its a case of, it would be better to ask before hand unless invited to "have a go" by the OP.
I'm with simon still on the line on the rendered light. It's just too defined to be natural, but I get the effect you are trying to get. If you could soften up the line a little and have a bit of drop off on it it would look more like it was shot with that lighting.
I think what's amused me so far with everyone else's edits is that they are nothing like what Paul has done, so the times given on them are of no comparitive value. I was going to pop up an example of imagenomics portraiture plug-in but decided not to as I'd be uploading Paul's image to an image host without his permission.

Im just a cranky Fooker tonight, its been a long day.
If Paul doesnt mind people re-editing his images then its all good..
But anybody edit any of mine without my permission and I will re-edit their faces *raises fists*

You might want to consider that some (all?) of us were polite enough to have asked first and that no rudeness was intended.
Mine was offered simply as a comparison of what I could do in 20 minutes in Lightroom as a base edit - nothing else. I think it looks nice, but the eyes are just ok - and it's certainly not intended either as imitation or anything competitive to Paul's objective.

Yep I sent Barrie the high res to have a play with. He had my permission.
I never said the words 'all or some'.
Im pretty sure Paul knows how to do a basic edit on an image, infact I would stake my life on it. The image hes asking for comments over however is not just a basic edit of something.

No, it was just offered as a time/effort comparison of Lightroom vs Photoshop. A combination of the two might help deliver the final image in a lot less time.

You certainly changed the whole mood of the thread.

Erm well i didnt really ask for a time comparison and to tell you the truth, 3 hours was quick for what i was trying to do. High end retouchers can take up to 2 days on a picture. My old way of doing it would have beat the lot of you as i used to take 2 minutes a picture with far better results.

Personally i prefered the first edit Paul.
Beautiful work and with time and practice, you will soon slice that 3 hours down to alot shorter time scale. it looks clean, sculpted and highly polished typical of a high end fashion or commercial image.
